Development projects are rewarding opportunities for the JDT team to leverage their real estate expertise and professional networks to enhance mutually beneficial relationships fostered within the community.
We strive to incorporate each of our core values as unique creative strategies into all of our redevelopment ventures:
Community Archiving
JDT is present and proactive in broader community engagement opportunities - before and beyond project approvals and intentionally incorporates input from individuals and groups who may not typically be identified as key stakeholders, ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive approach to project engagement.
WEALTH CREATION
By launching a real estate developer incubator, Urban Roots Unites Partners (URUP), provides exposure and project engagement to individuals who are currently underrepresented in the field of real estate development.
CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION
JDT strives to develop environmentally responsible projects by utilizing sustainable design strategies.
HOUSING ACCESSIBILITY
JDT works to alleviate poverty and increase community member retention by providing equitable housing opportunities for those currently within the neighborhood, irrespective of their socioeconomic background.
PHILANTHROPY
By aligning with our dedication to social responsibility and community advancement, JDT invests time, funds, and resources into impactful initiatives.
CAPITAL PROJECTS
JDT believes that all people have a right to be protected from environmental pollution, and to live in and enjoy a clean and healthful environment. Leaning into our extensive experience with public-private partnerships, JDT leads efforts to identify and strategize placemaking and public space revitalization opportunities that can strengthen the connections between people and provide long-term health and wellness benefits to a community.
EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS
Partnering with local organizations, and skilled labor focused educational institutions, JDT leverages its projects as educational opportunities and allocates resources to develop and manage multi-generational workshops and industry exposure initiatives across the project cycle.
YOUTH ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS
Through intentional acts of inclusion, JDT leverages development projects to provide exposure, career awareness and project engagement to students (typically grades 9-12), with an emphasis on those who are currently underrepresented in the field of real estate development.
COMMUNITY AMBASSADORS PROGRAM
Post-development, JDT allocates time and resources to cultivate a group of Firehouse residents dedicated to fostering inclusive community engagement, encouraging stakeholder participation and promoting public-space stewardship.
PUBLIC ART ENHANCEMENTS
JDT believes that thoughtfully curated art installations can reflect the values, and aspirations of the community, fostering a sense of belonging and ownership among residents and stakeholders. We collaborate with local artists and skilled laborers to enhance our placemaking efforts and establish a unique identity for the development, strengthening its connection to the surrounding community.
PARTNERSHIPS
JDT believes that by strengthening the connection between people and the places they share, we can help shape our neighborhoods to maximize shared value.
JDT has had the honor of working with impact driven organizations, such as The ACE Mentor Program of Greater Philadelphia, Youthbuild, Public Workshop and Tiny WPA, the Youth Commission, and various RCO’s and local community groups. Most notably is the partnership developed while undergoing the transformation of the Ralph Brooks Park community in South Philadelphia with Connor Barwin’s Make the World Better (MTWB).
The MTWB partnership was fueled by Jeffrey’s industry insight and community redevelopment experience and Connor’s established philanthropic networks and passion for sustainable community impact. The partnership inspired multiple transformative park revitalization projects within Philadelphia, and in April 2016, Tubbs’ Urban Roots merged with Barwin’s Make the World Better Foundation (MTWB).
The unification of Urban Roots and MTWB allowed the team to execute high impact, community-centered projects like no other organization in the City of Philadelphia, at this time.
